Choir Final Exam 2017

5/23/2017

Part 1: Sight-Reading (50%)

  • Students will submit their sight-reading exercise via Sight Reading Factory by the date and time of their final exam.
  • Students will be able to use as many attempts as necessary to get their best possible recording.
  • Students who need assistance with recording may setup an appointment to use the choir's student station.
  • Performance Details:
    • Students will have one minute to establish the key and study.
    • Metronome will play during exercise at 60 beats per minute.
    • The exercise will be in 4/4 and in C Major.
    • Sopranos, altos, and tenors should use the treble clef version. Baritones and basses should use the bass clef version.
  • Grading Criteria:
    • Students will be assessed based on accuracy of pitch, solfege, and rhythm.
    • There will be eight measures in the exercise.  Credit will be given per measure.
    • Students will not receive partial credit per measure.  If there is an error in the measure, they will not receive credit for that measure.
    • Students will not gain or lose credit based on tone quality.

Part 2: Written Musicianship Exam (50%)

  • Students will take the written portion of their final exam at their respective exam time.
  • The written exam is a post-test of the All-State exam they took at the beginning of the year.
  • Students will be assessed based on growth, not proficiency.
    • To give credit for growth, the student's grade will be scaled the amount of their improvement from pre-test to post-test.  For example, if a student scored a 50% on their pre-test and a 70% on their post-test then their final exam score would be a 90%.
    • The scale for students who were not present for the pre-test will be at the discretion of the director.
